Mr. OGBE KAYODE RICHARD-DIRECTOR, WELFARE MATTERS

Ogbe Kayode Richard was born on 20th June, 1970 to the Ogbe’s family of Lasunwon Royal Lineage of the Odujumo Araba Royal Clan, Ikorodu.

Richard as he is fondly called started his Educational Career at Eleja Primary School, Ebute-Metta in 1976, but due to relocation of his parents to Gbagada suburb, he proceeded to Muslim Mission Primary School, Oworonsoki, but eventual concluded his Primary School Education at Araromi Primary School, Gbagada in 1982.

At the beginning of 1982 Academic Session, Richard gained admission into Bariga Comprehensive High School, but eventually completed his Secondary education at Ikeja Grammar School in 1987/88 academic Session.

In 1991, Richard gained admission into the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria where he bagged his Bachelor of Science degree B.Sc (Hons) in Sociology in 1997 and thereafter commenced his Post Graduate programme and bagged his MBA (HRM) degree.  While at the University, he was actively involved in Union activism and turned around the Student Union Office in ABU. Richard is an Associate Member of Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (AMNI) and also Member of Nigeria Institute of Training and Development (NITTD), an affiliate of International Federation of Training Organization (IFTO)

Richard is a Writer, a Trainer, a Speaker and a facilitator. He is well known in the Public Service of Lagos State. He has presented papers both at home and abroad. Some of his published articles in some of Nigeria Newspaper includes: Protecting the Environment, Effect of E-Waste on the Environment, June 12 1993 Presidential Election ‘the Socio-Political and Economic Consequences of the Annulment’. He has also presented papers at International Conferences such as the African Unity Renaissance, South Africa, where he presented a paper on Public Service and also at Afrilics, Algeria, where he presented a paper on ‘The Effect of Capacity Building on the Oil and Gas Industry’.

Richard is a Team player and he is well traveled. Among Countries he has visited are United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, South Africa, Algeria, Egypt and Spain.

In 2010, Richard was awarded one of the Outstanding Senior Public Servant in Lagos State by the former Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN). In 2018, he was also awarded the outstanding Officer (Directors Level) in the Public Service Office, Office of the Head of Service.

Richard is presently the Director, Welfare Matters, Public Service Office, Office of the Head of Service. 

He is happily married with a son.
