LAGOS HOS RENAMES ANNUAL INTER-AGENCY FOOTBALL COMPETITION, INTRODUCES ADDITIONAL GAMES
Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola has approved the inclusion of additional games to the annual inter-agency football competition in the State and renamed it “HoS Games” in a bid to expand the scope of competitive sports amongst public servants.
Previously known as “HoS Cup”, the competition which featured football matches to promote physical fitness and enhance mental alertness in employees will now feature other sports such as Table Tennis, Lawn Tennis, Scrabble, Chess, Ayo and Tug of War.
According to a statement issued by the Office of the Head of Service, Ministries, Extra-Ministerial Departments, Parastatal Organisations, Government-owned Agencies, Local Government Council Areas as well as Local Council Development Areas interested in participating in any of the games are to register for the competition.
The Statement noted that participating MDAs, LGs, and LCDAs could only register a maximum of two participants each in the male and female categories of the board and individual games.
The release stated further that only staff whose employments have been confirmed and undergone a pre-competition medical assessment at specified government-owned hospitals would be allowed to participate in the competition.
The listed hospitals include General Hospital, Lagos; General Hospital, Gbagada; Alimosho GeneralHospital, Igando; General Hospital, Ifako-Ijaiye; General Hospital, Ikorodu and General Hospital, Epe.
Others are Randle General Hospital, Surulere; Harvey Road Health Centre, Yaba; General Hospital, Badagry; Ajeromi General Hospital, Ajegunle and Folarin Coker Staff Clinic, Secretariat, Alausa.
It urged interested participants to visit the Secretariat of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) located in the Public Service Office premises at Block 20, Room 302, Alausa Secretariat on or beforeFriday 21st June 2019 for registration formalities, saying that rules and regulations, fixtures, approved venues and the dates slated for each game will be communicated in due course.
