ANNUAL PRODUCTIVITY AWARD: LAGOS HONOURS 19 PUBLIC SERVANTS, FOUR MDAs
… As HoS Calls for Improved Service Delivery
Lagos State Government, on Thursday, presented Productivity Awards to 19 public servants who distinguished themselves in their profession, and gave Corporate Award recognition to four of its Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs, for outstanding contributions towards the development of Lagos State as a whole.
In his address at the Y2019 Productivity Order of Merit Awards, with the theme “Productivity for National Re-Engineering, Security and Growth”, the Lagos Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, charged the awardees not to rest on their oars but continue to exhibit high sense of responsibility, commitment to duty and unalloyed loyalty to the growth of the public service.
He stated that the theme of this year’s award should serve as a wake-up call for them, especially given the reality of the inevitable change that we must make individually and collectively.
“The quality and pace of National re-engineering achievable in the short and long term would be directly proportional to, and consequent upon, how well we are able to review work systems, processes, procedures and strategies for growth, as well as security, particularly at the national level”, he said.
Muri-Okunola, therefore, charged the awardees to improve their service delivery to Lagosians and the State Government by rededicating themselves to service.
In his words, “By the universal nature and character of recognition awards, today’s award is a further call to duty. As we say, the reward for hard work is more work. As such, I wish to enjoin all workers in the State to continue to discharge their civic responsibilities efficiently and diligently”.
Earlier in his address, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mr Samson Ajibade, noted that the objective of the award is to further encourage diligence, commitment and loyalty amongst public servants in Lagos State in anticipation that the award will spur them to continue to put in their best in the service of the State.
In his presentation, the Guest Lecturer, Mr. Diran Ajetunmobi, Director, Public Affairs, PSSDC, Magodo, dwelled extensively on the theme of the award and charged all public servants to ensure they are productive anywhere they find themselves, because, according to him, “Productivity is never an accident, but something we should work for not minding whether we would gain from it or not”.
He added that it is only a productive nature that would have the capacity to re-engineer and grow.
The awardees included Mr. Adeniji Hakeem Oduyinka, Mrs. Taiwo Abiola, Mrs. George Abosede Oluwakemi, Mrs. Oyegbola Olasunkanmi Mopileola, Mrs. Elusakin Agnes Iyabo, Mrs. Ogunsanya Jonathan Olugbemi, Mrs. George Temitope, Mr. Oreagba Bolaji and Dr. Daniel Folayinka among others.
The recipients of the corporate award category are: The Ministry of Science and Technology, Education District 1, Lagos State Primary Health Care Board and Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation, OTCI.
