LAGOS HoS URGES SENIOR PUBLIC SERVANTS TO SHARE VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE
The Head of Service, Lagos State, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, has implored Senior Public Servants in Lagos State to share valuable knowledge and experiences with upcoming officers in the public service and students in tertiary institutions to enrich professional practitioners within respective sectors in Lagos State and the Nation.
Muri-Okunola gave the advice recently at the launch of a book titled: “Talent Management: An Enabler for HR Value Creation”, written by Mr. Mansur Adekunle, MCIPM, a retired Lagos State Public Servant at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja.
He described the book as an essential tool for serious-minded Human Resource (HR) professionals in today’s turbulent business environment as it clearly states what is expected of the HR professionals creating value within an organisation and delivering timely results in tandem with the overarching longer-term organisational objectives in a timely and professional manner.
According to him, the book is an indispensable tool to unlock the potentials in the entire HR value chain as global, national and industrial developments can only be achieved through the contributions of talents.
The HoS also said that the book has a futuristic outlook as the author examined the current HR practices within the context of emerging realities and the likely impact of the rapid digitisation of HR processes, which ultimately will transform the HR practice in society.
The Honourable Commissioner for Establishment, Training and Pensions, Mrs. Ajibola Ponnle, also applauded the author for his effort, saying the book has proffered solutions to problems encountered in the local context by HR professionals.
She, therefore, recommended the book for students of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) because of its relevance to society.
The Chairman, Lagos State Civil Service Commission, Mrs. Olubunmi Fabanwo, described the book as ideal and inspiring because it unveils new ideas in the HR practice in a detailed and attractive way.
She stated that the book will be useful for present and upcoming HR professionals, noting that the author included vocational and technical areas, which are usually omitted in HR practices, in the contents of the book.
The Director-General, Lagos State Public Service Staff Development Centre, Dr. Senukon Olufunmi Ajose-Harrison, who was the Book Reviewer, gave an expose of the 370-page work with seven chapters.
He described the book as a veritable tool for HR professionals to manage talents in order to achieve the mission of organisations, as the book has provided the processes and steps which the HR professionals need to follow in the 21st century.
The Chairperson, Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM), Mrs. Abosede Oluwakemi George, congratulated the author and described the compilation of the intellectual property as one that has made the CIPM members proud.
She described the author, Mr. Mansur Adekunle, MCIPM, as a source of inspiration to the CIPM’s members and all Public Servants in Lagos State.
