Muslim faithful in Lagos State have been called upon to come together as one indivisible family and embrace the spirit of unity, compassion, and generosity.
The Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola, spoke after the Eid prayer held at Dodan Barracks, Obalende, Lagos.
He maintained that everyone should reflect on the values of faith, devotion, and selfless service, which the celebration teaches us.
The Head of Service said, “Eid-El-Kabir, also known as Eid al-Adha or the Festival of Sacrifice, holds great significance in Islam, just as it commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God”.
“This is a time to remember those less privileged and extend our helping hands to those in need,” he added.
Muri-Okunola stressed further that it is through acts of charity and kindness that we can share the blessings bestowed upon us and make a positive impact on the lives of others.
He thereby charged all muslim faithful to celebrate the diversity that enriches our world and stand together against discrimination, prejudice, and injustice.
Urging everyone to be grateful for the blessings God has granted mankind, Muri-Okunola emphasised the need to support those who are facing hardship or experiencing difficulties.
“As we gather with our families and friends to share meals, exchange gifts, and offer prayers, let us also reflect on the values of sacrifice and gratitude”, he said.
He also prayed that the almighty Allah grant everyone sounds health, happiness, and prosperity, just as everybody’s heart is filled with joy, love, and laughter.
