It was a celebration galore today as members of staff in the Office of the Head of Service/Public Service Office gathered in large numbers at Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, The Secretariat Alausa-Ikeja to felicitate with Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola on his appointment as the Principal Secretary to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
In her welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola expressed appreciation to Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola for his exemplary commitment and charismatic leadership in the conduct of government business.
Oyegbola, who was represented by the Secretary of Staff Housing Board, Mr. Abdulrafiu Fashola emphasised that Muri-Okunola has left his marks on the sands of time via a legacy of monumental stride and achievements which has positioned the Lagos State Public Service as the best in Sub-Saharan Africa. He added that his resilience has created a veritable platform for Public Servants to actualise their career goals and aspirations in the service.
Fashola reiterated that Muri-Okunola’s giant strides made it possible for the Office of the Head of Service, Public Service Office and other Agencies including the Staff Housing Board, Public Procurement Agency, Office of Transportation Creativity and Innovation (OTCI) to achieve great success through his compassion and dedication.
The Director-General of the Public Procurement Agency, Mr. Fatai Idowu Onafowote appreciated the outgoing HOS for his kindness, steadfastness, resilience and being supportive at all times, just as he commended him for his noble and charitable deeds to everyone.
Also speaking at the event, the Director-General, Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovation, Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa noted that Muri-Okunola is her strong pillar who supported her in accomplishing great success in her assignment.
The Principal Private Secretary, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Bola Adeyiga also extolled the virtues of Muri-Okunola, noting that he had given him the platform to work at the topmost level while being understanding and accommodating as his direct Boss.
Responding, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola thanked the management and entire members of the Public Service Office for their love, support and prayers which had enabled him to perform efficiently and effectively.
He, however, admonished the entire Public Servants in the State not to rest on their oars and to continue to discharge their duties diligently and effectively, just as he solicited the cooperation of Public Servants for his successor.
