HEALTHY LIVING: AGORO TASKS CIVIL SERVANTS WITH REGULAR EXERCISE

Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro has urged public servants in the State to engage in more exercise to boost their health and be able to live longer.

Agoro stated this at the April Edition of the Walk for Fitness exercise organised for public servants in the state, saying the monthly event was designed to promote quality of life and prevent chronic diseases among the workforce.

He maintained that public servants have to engage in regular physical activity as a health enhancement measure against several ailments, encouraging those doing it to continue as it has a lot of health benefits.

The Special Guest of Honour and Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab stressed that public servants in the State are now taking their well-being into their own hands, urging them to make the exercise a regular part of their lifestyle.

In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. ‘Sunkanmi Oyegbola, implored the Public Servants to embrace the constant practice of walking for improved health underscoring the belief that health is wealth.

Oyegbola said the walk was to create awareness of the need for regular exercise, stressing that walking was a way of changing their habits and encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

In his health talk, the Director of Health Promotion, Ministry of Health, Mr. Segun Badejo said exercising regularly lowers people’s chances of developing diabetes, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, kidney disease, heart disease, stroke and cancer.

Badejo said walking was very crucial to maintaining a healthy weight, burning fats and controlling most diseases.
