Y2023 HOS GAMES: PSO FEMALE TEAM EMERGE OVERALL WINNER
The Lagos State Public Service Office (PSO) Female Football Team has been crowned winner of the female football competition for the fourth consecutive time at the grand finale of the 2023 Head of Service (HOS) Games held at the Onikan Stadium Lagos.
Speaking at the event, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro said the physical and mental wellbeing of every civil servant in Lagos State is crucial for improved productivity and service delivery for the benefit of all residents in the state.
Agoro said the primary objectives of the HOS Games were to foster the spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie, as well as promote the culture of physical fitness and mental wellness amongst Public Servants in Lagos.
The HOS, who congratulated the winners in different categories, noted that participants would be representing Lagos at the national and international levels while applauding the discovery of new talents among them.
On her part, the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola expressed satisfaction with the participation of workers from different Ministries, Parastatals, and Council Areas, just as she called on the state workforce to embrace regular medical checkups to ascertain their health status.
In the Female football competition, the PSO team defeated their SUBEB counterpart by 2-0 to win the coveted trophy and gold medal in the female category while in the Male category, the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency thrashed LASUTH by 4-2 through penalties after playing a 2-2 draw in the duration time to claim the trophy and the gold medal.
In the male category of the Tug of War, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service defeated the Public Service Office to win the trophy, while in the female category, New Town Development Authority emerged winner after beating LAGFERRY to claim the trophy.
The HOS Games also recorded winners in Ayo, Chess, Scrabble, Lawn Tennis and Table-Tennis among others which brought more glamour and fun to the competition.
