LAGOS HOS PAYS WORKING VISIT TO LAGOS WATER CORPORATION

Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Olabode Agoro, on Friday, paid a working visit to the Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) at the Water House,  Ijora Lagos, admonishing the Management Staff to cooperate with the government on the ongoing restructuring process at the Corporation.

He said the restructuring will enable the government to move the sector forward and improve water supply to residents across the State. “I could recollect when I was young that we were drinking water from the  Corporation directly from the tap and almost all houses in the State were enjoying good quality water supply from the Corporation”, he added.

Agoro further stated that the staff ought to have spoken out when they realised things were not going in the right direction but rather kept mute until it became worse due to negligence.

He further said that at this juncture, the Government has no choice but to do the needful and ensure things return to normalcy. The HOS, therefore, appealed to all staff of the Corporation, to see the exercise as a means of making sacrifice for the State.

On his part, the Managing Director Lagos Water Corporation, Engr. Mukhtaar Tijani reiterated that the restructuring process has been completed and he will soon inform the workforce on the outcome. He, however, noted that it is likely to affect some of the staff but assured that Government will make adequate provision for the entitlements of those that would be affected in the restructuring.

Mukhtaar said, “I have defended you in several meetings with top Government Officials and I was made to understand that the change is inevitable which was the first task I was given on assumption of duty as the Managing Director of this Corporation”.

The Executive Director of Operations, Engr. (Mrs.) Omolanke Taiwo, speaking in the same vein, said the restructuring process should not be seen as a witch-hunting exercise but for the betterment of the State and Residents and urged anyone affected to accept it in good faith.

Also present at the event were the Permanent Secretary, Public Service Office, Mrs. Sunkanmi Oyegbola; Permanent Secretary, Establishment and Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun; Permanent Secretary,  Office of Environmental Services  Dr. Omobolaji Gaji; Permanent Secretary, Office of Drainage Services, Engr Olakunle Adegbite; Director of Industrial Relations, Mrs. Kushemo Anme and the Director Establishment, Mrs. Bukola Olagunju among others.
